Park Office

The Park Office is a stone building with a small pond in front of it located on Route 23 across the street from the main entrance to the park. If you’re heading north (going from Sussex towards Port Jervis) it will be on your left. If you’re driving south (going from Port Jervis towards Sussex) it is on your right.

Sawmill Lake

Driving north on Route 23 (coming from Sussex)
Continue past the Park Office and park entrance approximately one half mile. There will be a road on your left (Sawmill Road). Turn left onto Sawmill Road and drive 2.5 to 3 miles until you reach Sawmill Lake. Parking is on the right.

Driving on south on Route 23 (coming from Port Jervis)
Approximately one mile before you reach the Park Office/Park entrance you will see Steenykill Lake on your left. Shortly after you pass Steenykill, there will be a road on your right (Sawmill Road). Turn right onto Sawmill Road and drive 2.5 to 3 miles until you reach Sawmill Lake. Parking is on the right.

There are no rest room facilities located in this immediate area. If necessary, please stop at the Park Office or one of the other “comfort stations” before the program begins.

Winter Trail Use Parking Lot

Driving on Route 23 North (coming from Sussex)
Continue past the Park Office and park entrance approximately one half mile. There will be a road on your left (Sawmill Road). Turn left onto Sawmill Road and after approximately one tenth of a mile turn right onto Park Ridge Road. The parking lot will be on the left across from the group campsites.

Driving on Route 23 South (coming from Port Jervis)
Approximately one mile before you reach the Park Office/Park entrance you will see Steenykill Lake on your left. Shortly after you pass Steenykill, there will be a road on your right (Sawmill Road). Turn right onto Sawmill Road and after approximately one tenth of a mile turn right onto Park Ridge Road. The parking lot will be on the left across from the group campsites.

The Site of the Former Kuser Mansion

Go through the main entrance to the park (a left turn coming from Port Jervis, a right turn coming from Sussex). You will pass picnic shelters and a large parking lot with signs for the beach on your right. A short distance past the beach lot, you will see a curving stone wall on your left. At the end of the wall, turn in and park (there is also a sign for the Interpretive Center here). We’ll meet in the grassy area where the Kuser Mansion once stood. There are no rest room facilities located in this immediate area. If necessary, please stop at the Park Office or one of the other “comfort stations” before the program begins.

Cedar Swamp Picnic Area

Go into the main entrance to the park (a left turn coming from Port Jervis, a right turn coming from Sussex). You will pass a picnic shelters, the beach parking lot, and Lake Marcia (all on your right). At the end of the lake you will see playground equipment and a sign for the Kuser Natural Area and Cedar Swamp Picnic Area in front of you. Make a left turn, entering this picnic area, drive about halfway to the gate, and park. There are no rest room facilities located in this immediate area. The Interpretive Center

Go through the main entrance to the park (a left turn coming from Port Jervis, a right turn coming from Sussex) and follow the signs. You will pass picnic shelters and a large parking lot with signs for the beach on your right. A short distance past the beach lot, you will see a curving stone wall on your left and a sign for the Interpretive Center. Turn in and drive through the stone pillars. Park in front of the building. If there is no parking available there, it is fine to park on the grass nearby.
