While often best known for attracting monarch butterflies, milkweed hosts many different kinds of insects. On this common milkweed plant near group campsite "A," fritillary butterflies feed, along with a black and red milkweed beetle and Japanese beetle.

Canada lilies, ranging in color from yellow to a darker orange, are in bloom in isolated spots along Sawmill and Park Ridge Roads.
